playing style Outlast

It takes place in a psychiatric hospital that has been out of control by its patients. The journalist and the hero of the story,

Miles Upshur, is unable to fight, so in order to stay alive you

must run from your enemies or hide in designated places – such as closets or under beds –

. But the player must be careful, because the enemies usually

search in those places. Naturally, the player has to interact with

the environment around him, jump over low obstacles and slide under open spaces in solid parts such as a hole in a fence or in a wall.

Miles carries with him a video recording camera that supports

night vision, some batteries, and a note-taking notebook, which he took to document what is happening inside the hospital. Miles obtaining a camera that supports

night vision helps him explore the dark areas in the hospital, but the infrared rays

that the camera uses for night vision consume battery power

, so the player must search for batteries
